NYT:
Gays Who Wanted to Lay JFK

(Vidal, Williams and Kennedy, in an undated and uncredited photo.)

Writer Christopher Bram, whose book "Father of Frankenstein" about openly gay director James Whale was turned into the hit movie "Gods and Monsters", has a new book out chronicling the lives, writings and influences of gay male authors since the 1940s.

The New York Times on Friday reviewed Bram's latest book, in a mostly favorably light, and this paragraph captured my imagination, bolding added:

One way to read “Eminent Outlaws” — a profitable way — is simply as an anthology of sly and sometimes X-rated anecdotes. We get Tennessee Williams and Mr. Vidal skeet shooting with John F. Kennedy in 1958 and debating how to jump his bones. We are reminded that Mr. Vidal described Baldwin as a cross between Bette Davis and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Click here for more info on the book from the publisher, Hatchette Book Group. Go here to learn where and when Bram will be speaking and promoting the book. He'll be in San Francisco on February 21, appearing at Books Inc on Van Ness Avenue in a conversation with Armistead Maupin. I hope to be in the audience that night and hear what these two literary queens have to say.
