Mock AIDS Funeral at
Pelosi's SF Home
on August 4

The executives at the Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation have announced another protest targeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this time at her home in San Francisco. Last month the service org staged a die-in outside Pelosi's district office, garnering both local mainstream and blogger attention.

The issue here is simple. People living with HIV in several states can't afford the high price of life-extending medications, and federal government assistant is urgently needed. However, AIDS Inc orgs here, from the largest, the SF AIDS Foundation, to all of medium and small local service groups are not joining AHF in the mock funeral.

While AHF is taking to the streets to save the lives of people with AIDS around the nation, the SF AIDS Foundation and other such orgs in Pelosi's district remain silent about the waiting lists for drugs and pushing Pelosi to address the problem.

Here's the info on the upcoming action:

Please join AIDS Healthcare Foundation in San Francisco on Wednesday, August 4th for a protest and mock “funeral procession” to speak out against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s silence on the current AIDS drug crisis.

A mock “wake” will take place at 10:00 AM at the intersection of Market and Castro. Protestors will then drive in a procession to Speaker Pelosi’s home where a mock “funeral” will take place outside at 11:00 AM.

The “funeral procession” is meant to symbolize all the people who have died while on AIDS Drug Assistance Program waiting lists since 2003.

Currently, there are more than 2,100 people on waiting lists to receive lifesaving AIDS drugs.

Join us and let your voice be heard!
