Homo-Hating Buju Banton
Nominated for a Grammy

This is the only news report I've found today about the homo-hating Jamaican singer getting a Grammy nomination this year, and his track record with homos.

I wonder how long it will take for GLAAD to get out a statement on the nomination and Buju's history of bashing gays. Would be great to see gay entertainment and music orgs create some attention about Buju's nomination, use the opportunity to educate the music industry on all Jamaican singers preaching violence against gays.

Let's see if our political advocacy orgs, such as the LA gay center, along with GLAAD, get a picket organized for the award ceremony on January 31 in Hollywood. Anyone know if Lorri Jean will be on one of her famous vacations at that time?

From the CaribWorldNews site:

He`s been criticized as a homophobe and his concerts targeted by gay activists bent on shutting him down. But Jamaican reggae singer, Buju Banton, last night reigned over the recent challenges to win himself a 2009 Grammy nomination.

Banton, who has been severely criticized for the `Boom Bye, Bye` song he sang as a teenager, last night headed the Best Reggae Album category of the Grammy nominations with his Rasta Got soul album on his Gargamel Music, Inc. label.

It is the fourth nomination for Banton, born Mark Anthony Myrie in Kingston, Jamaica in 1973.
