SF Joins IDAHO for Gay Iraqis;

4/25 Meeting at Cafe Flore

The Gays Without Borders chapter in San Francisco will be participating in the May 17 IDAHO, International Day Against Homophobia, with a focus on the horrific torture and slaying of LGBT people in Iraq.

We'll be holding an organizing meeting tomorrow, April 25, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Cafe Flore, located at Market and Noe Streets. To find us, look for the Boycott Jamaica and Iraq: Stop Killing Gays signs.

The planned May 17 IDAHO action here is a speak out at Harvey Milk Plaza against the brutal treatment of LGBT persons in Iraq. For this year, the IDAHO theme are fighting transphobia and homo-hatred.

IDAHO was started by Louis-Georges Tin, who lives in France, in 2005. May 17th was chosen because it marks the anniversary when the World Health Organization in 1990 removed homosexuality from its list of mental diseases.

Actions marking IDAHO have primarily taken place in Europe and the United Kingdom, with a growing number of events now happening in Asia, Central America and North America.

This year, in addition to San Francisco's event, actions in America will take place in Chicago and New York.

Join us tomorrow, Saturday the 25, at Cafe Flore and help make IDAHO in San Francisco fab-u-lous!
