SF DPH: Gay HIV Remains Endemic

At last Thursday's monthly HIV prevention planning council meeting, experts presented the latest stats on estimated HIV stats and survey results related to serosorting practices, where men have sex only with men of the same status.

I didn't attend the meeting, so I don't know the context in which these slides were presented by the DPH experts. However, Matthew Bajko of the Bay Area Reporter was present and will have a story on Thursday about the stats and the prevention council's reaction to the new figures.

Here are the three slides of most interest to me. The first, presented above, shows new infections for all populations, remain stable. Let's hope the number go down even further from their height in the 1980s.

The second slide shows how many poz guys have a seroadaption strategy for not spreading HIV, and the final slide presents data on how many gays plan to use the strategy in their sex lives. Click here to view all of the slides.
