Year-End Bonuses for Gay Inc Executives?

Word out of Washington today is that auto executives will give up their annual year-end bonuses, if Congress agrees to pump billions of taxpayer dollars into the failing car manufacturers. Last month, the top directors of Goldman Sachs announced they would not take any bonuses this holiday season. Nice of these corporate leaders to make a small sacrifice, as the nation grapples with a deepening recession.

Questions now need to be asked of Gay Inc executives, and see if they are also not accepting year-end bonuses for 2008. I'd like to see my gay leaders follow the brave example of the business bosses.

You won't be shocked to learn I, of course, think the heads of gay advocacy groups should not be receiving bonuses at anytime, not until we have full equal rights, and, given the abysmal failure of our professional gay lobbyists and campaigners to deliver on their promise of beating Prop 8, no bonuses should be handed out to gay executives.

Can anyone make a serious and air-tight argument favoring holiday bonuses for the like of Joe Solmonese, Marty Rouse, Lorri Jean, Kate Kendell, Geoff Kors and Rea Carey? If you'd like to try, I'd sure be keen on reading the argument.

Going beyond the bonus matter, I think we also need to question whether any of these gay lobbyists are entitled to pay raises next year.

What say you?

It could not be more clear. Marriage, by definition is between one man and one woman.
The end, period. You cannot be more articulate than that.
Civil unions are a fabulous way to go.
